Accessibility

 

This site is produced by the Office of Emergency Management (OEM). It has been designed to be as accessible to as many users as possible, including:

  • Users without fast Internet connections or dated hardware
  • Users with disabilities who may make use of assistive technologies
  • Remote and rural users

This site includes the following accessibility options:

Text resizing options

The OEM website enables you to change the text size on the page by using the Text Resizer tool at the top of the site (located below the search field). Click the small or large ‘A’ to reduce or increase the site of the text on screen.

Please note that you can also adjust the text size of any website you visit by modifying the settings on your computer. Firstly, you will need to check which Internet Browser version is currently installed on your machine:

Step 1: Open your browser
Step 2: Select Help from the top menu of your browser
Step 3: Select About (followed by the browser name) from the drop down list.

The screen that comes up will display which browser and version you are using.

 

Browser-based text resizing options

Internet Explorer
Open the browser. From the menu, select: View > Text Size > Largest

Firefox
Open the browser. From the menu, select: View > Text Size >Increase

Opera
Open the browser. From the menu, select: View > Zoom > %

Safari
Open the browser. From the menu, select: View > Make Text Bigger

 

Printing options

Pages of this website have been configured to be print friendly where possible. Simply click on the Print icon located towards the top of each page (below the search field).

When a page is printed, it will only print the most crucial elements of the page. Navigation menus are removed for your convenience to improve formatting.

 

Plugins

This website may include links to documents and files that will require the installation of certain software on your computer. However, in most cases you will not be required to install anything, as on most occasions it will already be installed by default.

Browsers

The Portal is best viewed using the listed browsers, depending on the device you are using: 

PC users (including laptops):     Internet Explorer 11 (minimum) or Google Chrome

Apple users (e.g iPads, Computers, laptops and phones): Google Chrome

All other devices:  Google Chrome

 

Area for Remediation

An independent accessibility audit of this website determined that keyboard access, visible keyboard focus, and bypass blocks required further attention in some browsers. For any accessibility issues, please contact publications@oem.wa.gov.au for assistance.
