​​​​Many Western Australians have experienced​ devastating losses caused by emergencies, such as bushfires, floods, storms and other hazards. Individuals, communities, businesses, Local and State Government all have a role to play in being prepared for emergencies. 

There are four a​​spects of emergency management, being 'pre​​vention', 'preparedness', 'response' and 'recovery'. 

 

Th​e emergency manage​ment aspe​​​​cts that occur before the emergency are 'prevention' and 'preparedness'.​Th​e emerg​​​​ency management aspect that occurs during the emergency is 'response'. ​The ​​emergency management aspect that occurs after the emergency is 'reco​very'.
